THE NUTS – Raw and Salty.
New Roots and Blues music – full of protein goodness
The Nuts music ranges from folk to rock, blues to pop and sometimes it’s even a little bit funky. It’s not a genre – The Nuts music is all about the songs.
Humour is a great part of the Nuts approach to songwriting, as is diversity in style and performance. Never heavy but serious in their approach to their songs and playing, The Nuts do their best to entertain with wit (some of it half-done) and music.
The individual Nuts are all seasoned, a bit salty and crunchy but not difficult to swallow.
Denis Surmon (The Nuts guitar/bass/vocals) worked with John Schumann’s Vagabond Crew (10 years) and tours with Amber Joy Poulton and The Coal Miner’s Daughter music theatre show (12 years). He produces the Crusty Cowboy Club (cabaret cowboy revue) and works in Young Neil and Horse Crazy, Surfers of the Cosmic Sea, the Love Mussels and Los Tacos.
David Rhodes is enjoying a long career in music playing alongside many great Australian and international performers. Until recently the backbone to The Steve Brown Band and now Paul and The Road, David also runs an Acoustic Scandal playing cover versions of country, folk and pop songs, and has been a collaborator with other renowned players performing progressive jazz/blues showcases.
Jeff Alga is the drummer of choice for bands such as the Borderers, the Steve Brown Band, Gumbo YaYa and the Donkeys (from WA). Widely experienced, Jeff has recorded and toured internationally with Seven Stories before settling into family life and the South Australian music fraternity.
Brett Sody is a talented guitar player and songwriter (The Love Mussels) as well as a published author and award-winning music producer. Sody is picking up bass and guitar for his work with The Nuts.
