Chris Wilson Benefit Show

Reprinted from ARBA post

Renowned Blues performer Chris Wilson has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has been forced to cancel all of his gigs.

Chris Wilson is a professional musician. The forced cancellation of gigs will obviously cause him financial hardship at what is already an extremely difficult time. So, rather than cancel this show, The Adelaide Roots and Blues Association (ARBA) has decided to go ahead and turn it into a Chris Wilson benefit show. All profits from this show will go directly to Chris Wilson. Chris’ Adelaide band; Sweet Baby James Meston and Rob Eyers will be joined by Dave Blight (harmonica) and Denis Surmon (bass) for an evening of Chris Wilson’s music.

If you are already a ticket holder for the Chris Wilson “Winter Blues” show and you wish to attend the Benefit show, you do not need to do anything. The tickets you already have will gain you entry. If you do not wish to attend this show you are entitled to a full refund.

To secure a refund please email mickyoung@arba.net.au and supply the full name your tickets were purchased under and how many tickets you require a refund for. We ask that you do this ASAP to allow others who may wish to attend the benefit to purchase tickets.

With some cancellations tickets are now available here:

https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=376239&

If capacity is reached click the “wait list” option and you may secure tickets if there are further cancellations.

The adventures of Peter Pan…

He’s a frying pan

In the cupboard under the sink

“Oh My God, Peter, I’m fed up wth being in here …it’s so dark and creepy…. i haven’t slept a bloody wink…. Surely its morning – surely it’s time for breakfast!!!!!!!

“Karen, you spent one night in the cupboard under the sink because of the big kitchen cleanup an’ ya busting’ your butt-plughole to get out. How do you think the rest of us feel stuck under every nightAND EVERY FUKN DAY!

“I understand, Peter, but, I’m a kettle…I’m used to being up on the bench, in the light.”

“You think we’re used to living under here day and night, Karen???? Was a time I’d be out of here two, tree times and day…. Bacon and eggs, pancakes….sausages…..steak…. Yes! I remember steak. Now Look at me…teflon fukked, 100-year-old egg white burnt into me like acne…”

“Oh… I thought it was….. “

“If only. Acne would be easier to get rid of. And what about poor ol’ Steve over there…. what’s a saucepan get used for these days, Steve?”

“Two fukken minute noodles! I’m so fed up I’d even take a kilo of brussels sprouts any time from now on!! Or burnt porridge!!!”

“And me…” a squeaky voice cried.  “What about me?”

“What about you Cicely? What’s life like for a sieve these days?”

“I used to be pride of the baking chain; sieveing flour and cocoa powder, icing sugar, cake and biscuit mixes….. now I’m lucky to get out once a month for a bellyful of overcooked spaghetti!”

“Don’t get too bent out of shape, Cicely,” grumbled a dark voice. All I seem to get slapped on me these days is frozen fukken pizza … 20 minutes in the fukken oven and no oil to spare me the burn!

“I’m sorry, Barry, but as a baking tray that really is … well … sort of, what to expect. But, I’m a kettle…an every morning kettle,  a 5…6 times a day kettle!”

“That’s lucky for you, Karen.  And I’m sorry you had to hear some of our sad tales…. but there is another who is even worse off down here…!”

“Don’t I know it, Peter, I can still hear that awful sobbing that kept me awake all night…. and terrified me.”

“Then you’ve heard our truly sad case…..  There are some among us who have been used once or twice – as a gesture  – and put under the sink – Pushed to the back and gradually forgotten about … for years and years….”

(Sob, sniff)

“Grieving and sobbing for years …. “

“Oh, Peter…. that is so-o-o sad…… Who could it be?”

“It’s poor Neville ……”

“The Breville??????”

“Yes. Recycling day would be a kindness to Neville – sitting on the footpath in the rain with his plug snipped off; even collecting dust on a shelf in Vinnie’s would be heaven but he’s been forgotten about for so long it’s unlikely to happen.  Anyway, the lights are on out there…. get ready and get hopeful. See ya, Karen. Maybe!”
