Would you bomb a Cosmic Surfer?
Published: May 15, 2024
Of course not — that would be crool! But you could photobomb the Surfers of the Cosmic Sea as they open an evening of hot entertainment this Saturday, May 18, with the legendary punk masters — The U-Bombs — at CLUBHideaway, Magill.
The U-Bomb band has quite a legacy as a seminal Adelaide punk outfit from the late 70’s to the mid-nowies, and have not managed to kill themselves in the intervening years (unlike the Surfers of the Cosmic Sea who killed themselves briefly in 2022 but were resuscitated by interstellar lifesavers*). The U-Bombs are making some chosen appearances to launch their new digital album at venues near you — if you live near those venues.
On the other hand is my watch.
Sorry, looking at the wrong hand.
On the other other hand the Surfers of the Cosmic Sea work in a unique cosmic musical niche called Prog Surf Rock and if you never thought there was such a thing as Prog Surf Rock get on up to CLUBHideaway at McGill this Saturday and find out that there is a genre of music called Prog Surf Rock with cosmic overtones, black (and white holes), radiation clouds, gravity wells and shit like that. It’s ok! It’s not scary — it’s just music.
Surfers kick-off time is about 7:30m — 7:45 (depends on the tide and if there’s a nice off-shore breeze). It might cost you 10 bucks to get in… don’t complain; musicians still have to pay for their drugs!
(*) Not the couloured sweeties with the hole in the middle, you idiot!
